How is brand photography different from a headshot?
A headshot is just that, a head and shoulders photo of you – nothing else. Whilst these have a place and can still be part of a brand shoot, headshots really are just one or two photos that you can use on your social media profiles, but not much else.
I’m a strong advocate of moving away from the traditional, uninspiring corporate style headshots with a fixed studio background. In fact, I love capturing peoples’ personalities, to turn a headshot into a stand out, personality filled, profile photo.
Brand photography is about creating a much larger and varied gallery of photos. Photos that can be used to tell different stories about your business, across all of your platforms and channels over the coming year, to build up a consistent, recognisable and engaging business brand.
Brand photography with me, Claire with the Camera, will take you on a journey of discovery. My Focus, Frame and Flourish system will really help us to understand your brand, what’s important to you, your values and who and how your business helps. We can then bring this all to life through a whole library of on-brand photos that you love and most importantly, that you can use every single day to help you inspire your target audience to take action.
Why is brand photography important for your business?
Brand photography is about producing an instantly recognisable, consistent and engaging brand, through stand-out imagery. Just like using the same logo, fonts and colours, the photos you use can help your audience get to know you, understand what you do and to see you as an expert in your field.
Great brand photos should capture the essence of you and your business and help tell a story; from what’s important to your business, to how you work with your clients, to what inspires you and all the unique things that makes your business right for your ideal clients.
Brand photos can be the catalyst for your content creation whether on your website or you social media channels. And can save you huge amounts of time as you no longer have to trawl the internet trying to find the right images for your posts.
Great band photos can also increase connection and inspire engagement. A stand out photo is much more likely to stop the scroll and encourage your audience to pay more attention to your content. Did you know, the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, and 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual?
So a picture really does tell a thousand words!
Did you also know that humans remember only 10% of information three days after hearing it, but on average by adding a picture, that recall leaps up to 65%!
We are also wired to notice, remember, learn from, and respond emotionally to visuals. Particularly faces, so using on-brand photos (not overused stock photography) really can help your business stand out and get noticed.
What type of photos do you get in a brand shoot?
From any brand photo shoot, you should end up with a whole range of photos that you can use across your website, social media channels and all of your marketing activity, from online to print. These will vary depending on you and your style and what you need for your business, so it’s crucial to speak to your potential brand photographer about how they work and the photos you will get, before you go ahead.
All my brand shoots are crafted around what each individual business needs, to create the bespoke brand photos your business needs to grow and become more visible. And if you’re not sure, I can help you work out exactly what you need for your business.
I encourage my clients to think about all of the ways and places they can use their brand photos, through my Focus, Frame and Flourish process, to ensure we get exactly what you need.
One of my key USPs is to create a variety of photos from your brand photoshoot, to inspire your content creation, ignite your website and for all your marketing needs. Read my article on 12 places you can use your brand photos to maximise your investment.

Why brand photography isn’t just for large companies
Just as social media, websites, blogs, Google ads and all the marketing channels can be used by businesses of all sizes, so can brand photography.
If you want to get your small business more visible in 2024, grow your audience and create more leads, then brand photography should definitely be for you.
As small business owners, our businesses are a reflection of perfectly, imperfect us. Of the magic and passion we pour into our business, our values and who and how we help our clients. It’s this uniqueness that makes our businesses so special and aligns us with our target audience. The more you can show this and connect with them, the more connection, engagement and and leads you can generate.
As a service-based business owner myself, I completely understand we have competing priorities and a variety of costs to cover and how challenging that juggle can be. So I have created my brand photography specifically for small, service-based business owners in Surrey, to give you photos that will help you everyday to market and grow you business.
Who is brand photography for?
Did you know that brand photos can be the catalyst for your content creation, can ignite your website and enable you to build engagement and connection with your target audience, inspiring them to take action?
This means that brand photography is for any small business owner who wants to get more visible to reach more of their ideal clients and connect with their audience.
I tend to work with coaches, consultants and small service-based businesses who are ready to grow their business to the next level. Those who know their target audience, the transformation they help bring about to their clients and the services they deliver. They are clear on their values and brand and are ready to implement a growth plan for the coming year.
If that sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you.
What happens on a brand photo shoot?
A brand photo shoot should include a lot more than just the shoot day itself. As a specialist small business brand photographer, the most important thing is that you get the photos you need to help grow your business.
I have created my Focus, Frame and Flourish process to help reduce overwhelm and get you shoot ready, so you can feel prepared and confident on the shoot day.
I want to help you get the photos you need, whether that’s hero photos for a new website, or storytelling photos to help you create engaging content for your social channels.
I can help you work out the right location for your shoot, what props and accessories to bring along, how you can showcase your connection with clients and even what outfits to choose. But most importantly, I ensure it’s all about capturing the very essence of your business.
I take pride in getting to know each of my clients, understanding your unique-ness and helping you feel more confident in what you need and how the photos can help you and your business. So by the time we reach the shoot itself, you are totally comfortable with me as your photographer and are excited for what we are going to get.
On shoot day, we can then be laser focussed on getting the photos you need for your business, as well as having some fun!
And then it’s time for your business to Flourish, through all the places and ways you can use your fresh, vibrant, on-brand photos that you will be so excited to share….
