When I first spoke to Mindset Coach Jo, about Brand Photography, she was 18 months into her growing her business, and in the middle of designing a new website.
And this was giving her a big challenge; when the designer asked for good quality photos, she didn’t have any that fitted with the direction her business was going in.
Jo needed photos that would inject personality and professionalism into her new website, and help her confidently market her 121 and group coaching services.
Through a personalised Mindset Coach Brand Photography package, Jo came away with high quality, on-brand photos, packed with personality and designed perfectly for her new website and Instagram content.
The Challenge: limited, outdated photos
Jo’s coaching services for mums had changed significantly since her business started, but her photos hadn’t kept up. She had a handful of old photos taken by a photographer friend, but while the quality was there, they didn’t do want she needed:
Not fit for purpose: The photos weren’t taken with website use in mind, so they weren’t the right size and didn’t work as large, engaging banner photos to welcome people to her site.
Not content driven: Just simple headshots, they weren’t aligned with Jo’s business or the stories, services and offers she wanted to share.
Outdated visuals: The photos she used were a couple of years old and didn’t reflect the direction her growing business was going in.
Lack of variety: She relied on the same few images, which limited her ability to create fresh, engaging content, and to recruit new clients into her group programme and membership.
Missed connections: Jo’s existing photos didn’t capture her warm, approachable personality, making it so much harder to build trust with her audience online.
As a Mindset Coach working with mums, Jo wanted her website and social media content to convey how much coaching had changed her life and why she was so passionate about it.
Second challenge: hating having her photo taken
And here’s where the second challenge comes in – like 99% of my clients, Mindset Coach Jo, hates having her photo taken. She even told me she doesn’t display any of her wedding photos, as she didn’t like them.
The Solution: Strategic and thoughtful Brand Photography
“From the outset, Claire was so interested in knowing about me and my business and really wanted to help me capture my business values and passion, and how I wanted my website to look.”
To help understand and achieve her goals, I took Jo through my Focus, Frame and Flourish Brand Photography process, including a Creativity Call, where her eyes came alight with all the ideas, and realisations of how she could photos in her Facebook and Membership groups, to help create connection with her audience.
We kept in contact during the planning phase with ideas flowing back and forth, so by the time the shoot day came, we had all the themes, shots and locations mapped out.”
We then mapped out the essential elements of her Mindset Coach Brand Photography shoot and the photos she wanted to capture in a personalised shot list:
“Claire enabled me to choose branding colour schemes and hone down on my values and how I wanted these reflected through my images. I was able to consider props and locations for the images and this provided me with more clarity on my branding.”
All of this, helped Mindset Coach Jo, to feel fully prepared by the time we reached shoot day, enabling her to be happy and confident… and loving it so much, she didn’t want it to end!
“I cannot put into words how helpful Claire has been throughout this process. She had so many amazing ideas that really helped me achieve what I wanted from the photo shoot. I felt I had so much clarity on the day, which helped massively with my confidence.
I have a long old back story with my dislike for having my photo taken, and worries that I wouldn’t like the end result. However, I didn’t need to be concerned, as the photos Claire got were better than I could ever have imagined! I am so proud to be putting them on my new website.”
What we captured in this Mindset Coach Photography Session
Mindset Coach Jo’s, brand shoot took place at her friends amazing house near Bristol, which allowed us to have photos with a variety of backdrops as well as outside at a nearby woods, to create a wonderfully varied gallery.
To ensure Jo ended up with the photos she needed to move her business forwards, we covered several key themes, making the most of our shoot time together:
Interaction with Clients: Capturing Jo in action, coaching and connecting with suitable clients
Customisable Content: Creative shots, like Jo holding out a blank frame, designed for overlaying text in Canva—perfect for eye-catching social media posts.
Storytelling Photos: Images showcasing a range of emotions, helping Jo connect more deeply with her audience.
Professional Portraits: Approachable, personality-filled profile photos that work for her website and social media.
Lifestyle Images: Relaxed photos of Jo practicing mindfulness and dealing with everyday life stresses, to help her connect with mums she works with.
These photos gave Jo everything she needed to launch her new website, post consistently on social media, and create content that connects with her ideal clients. And Jo, (who hates having her photo taken), was laughing, smiling and literally jumping for joy throughout it all, messaging the next day to say,
“I loved it so much, can we do it all again!”
